Services
Your project will have specific needs depending on the purpose, scope, and audience. An essay may need a light copy edit before resubmitting, or your term paper may call for the full attention of a heavy copy edit. A dissertation (congratulations!) could require only a final proofing, or you may want developmental editing to provide detailed feedback and coaching for an entire novel.
At Draft Works, our services fall into three general categories:
- Developing and coaching to support the full scope of the manuscript through detailed feedback to help reach your goal.
- Proofing according to the needs of the project, from heavy copy editing to a light final proof, including academic work such as dissertations.
- Printing by using our book design service to create an interior layout file (fonts, page design, and other elements) for print-on-demand platforms. (Please see the Printing page for more details.)
We also offer custom services such as support with historical research and dialect–please inquire for more information.
Rates
The rates pyramid below sets out the general framework of fees, but every project has particular needs. A part of our process is to provide a free sample edit of the opening pages of your work and a detailed proposal that is tailored to your project. Contact us for more information!
Ready to Work?
Contact us with your deadline and a ten page sample or first chapter. We will provide a free sample edit and propose a level of editing that we feel would be appropriate, but the choice is always yours. We will respond promptly with a quote and delivery date. (Please mention if you need express service, and we will include details and availability.)
Billing
Once we’ve agreed to the terms of the project, you will receive an email with payment details. For projects of a certain scope, half will be paid at the start and the balance on delivery. We currently accept cash, check, Venmo, and PayPal.
