Our co-founders, Lisa and Laura, met on the first day of graduate school as they started doctoral programs in Linguistics and English, respectively. They bonded over a shared love of Old English, stray cats, and cult movies. And after a few fights about whether the Williams Sonoma dish towels could be used to clean the floor (Lisa was wrong), they became best friends.
Laura completed her PhD and added it to three master’s degrees (English, mathematics, and library science). Along the way, she gained fifteen years of experience teaching English classes at the college level, as well as working as a freelance editor and a reference librarian.
Lisa never finished her dissertation, but she did complete several books, both fiction and nonfiction. Recently, she landed an agent while working for a software firm with primarily ESL clients. She is currently working on a novel set during the dawn of the Viking Age.
Over the years, they acquired husbands, kids, and a lot more cats, but they never lost their love of language, working together, and helping others.
